Photojournalism Between Projects and Ruins

Between Projects and Ruins is a photographic essay created for a photo report developed in the Visual Narratives course of the Communication and Multimedia program at the State University of Maringá (UEM). The report investigates the structural abandonment within the university, using photography to expose the impact of this neglect on student life and the overall academic experience. The series goes beyond documentation, aiming to provoke reflection through compositions that emphasize the vast emptiness and the fragmentation of the university environment. The use of light and framing enhances the sense of decay and insecurity, particularly in isolated areas. More than a mere record, this work stands as a visual critique of the negligence that turns academic infrastructure into ruins before it can ever fulfill its purpose.

Entre Projetos e Ruínas é um ensaio fotográfico realizado para uma fotorreportagem desenvolvida para a disciplina de Narrativas Visuais do curso de Comunicação e Multimeios da Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM). A reportagem investiga o abandono estrutural na universidade, evidenciando, por meio da fotografia, o impacto desse descaso na vivência estudantil e na qualidade da experiência acadêmica. A série busca não apenas documentar, mas provocar reflexão, utilizando enquadramentos que ressaltam a imensidão dos espaços vazios e a fragmentação do ambiente universitário. A escolha da luz e da composição reforça a atmosfera de precariedade e insegurança, especialmente nos locais isolados. Mais do que um registro, este trabalho é uma crítica visual à negligência que transforma a estrutura acadêmica em ruínas antes mesmo que ela possa cumprir sua função.
